Blizzard has re-opened the World of Warcraft Classic Beta
Blizzard Entertainment is getting ready to wait for it wow the world with the launch of World of Warcraft Classic on August 26th. Over the course of the last several months, closed beta servers have been active, though they were closed several times for technical testing events. However, developers have now reopened CBT realms, though previously existing characters have been wiped.

All previously created beta characters have been removed and Blizzard has made level 40 character templates available. In addition, the level cap has been raised to 45. This closed beta will end on August 16.

It’s been quite the seven weeks for both Blizzard and the closed beta testers, as World of Warcraft Classic has been building hype steadily these past few years. There has been some disappointment over the decision, as there are a number of people that still haven’t gotten around to experiencing Classic, Blizzard has noted that the closed beta did its job well enough for them to shift their focus away from it.

"Thanks to your help testing WoW Classic, we’ve fixed many additional reported bugs since the Beta ended last month. To really ensure that these fixes are all functioning as expected and prepare the smoothest possible launch in two weeks, we’ve just re-opened our closed beta realms for additional testing of WoW Classic"

World of Warcraft Classic releases globally on August 26/27. Blizzard’s vanilla server option for World of Warcraft will be based on the final patch for the original World of Warcraft, patch 1.12 Drums of War.
